Mélina Magdelénat is the founder of Cara, a French organisation working to further the construction of a « care society ». Cara’s research aims to place vulnerability and interdependence at the heart of public action, analyzing innovative care models and policies from around the world and exploring their potential for replication in the French context. Melina also writes about global care systems and the feminist ethics of care on her newsletter, The Fifth Wave, and is helping to produce the 2027 issue of the Van Leer Foundation’s Early Childhood Matters journal. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and a master’s degree in Russian and East European studies, both from the University of Oxford.
