Think Beyond is a three-and-a-half-day immersive leadership retreat taking place at Spier Wine Farm from 16–19 November 2026. This year, we are opening the circle more widely for one day, inviting leaders from across philanthropy, civil society, government, business and the creative sector to join retreat participants for a shared experience of renewal, connection and fresh thinking.

For one day, participants will step away from the urgency of daily work and into a carefully curated sequence of provocative conversations, creative and nature-based practices, practical frameworks and meaningful exchange. Together, we will explore the theme of renewal across three interconnected dimensions: the self, our relationships with others, and the wider systems we seek to influence.

What we will explore 

• Ubuntu and relational ethics: What might leadership grounded in interdependence, shared humanity and mutual responsibility look like?
• Care-full and just futures: How might care, dignity and justice become organising principles for the futures we create?
• The inner work of leadership: What sustains us, what might we need to release, and how do our inner lives shape the ways we lead?
• Creating new narratives: Which dominant stories shape our systems and what new stories might help shape what comes next?
• Navigating change: How can practical tools from systems thinking and futures practice help us understand transition, recognise and act on emerging possibilities?

The experience

The day will include:

• A playful, nature-based opening experience
• Provocative talks and facilitated conversations
• An interactive exploration of the inner-work of leadership and renewal
• A choice of smaller workshops introducing practical tools and frameworks
• Opportunities to connect with people working across different fields and geographies
• A shared lunch and an optional closing drink at Spier

Spaces are intentionally limited to 30 people to preserve the high-trust and participatory nature of the experience.
