Our Idea Labs are designed to generate creative new ideas and fresh dialogue on critical, underexplored topics impacting family well-being and flourishing. These labs bring together leaders from many sectors to create a roadmap for the future and advocate for transformative, long-term systems change through policy, practice, and narrative shifts.
What do the Idea Labs look like?
Each Lab shares key elements:
- Crucial but Overlooked Topics: Each Idea Lab explores an important but often overlooked topic affecting children, families, and their communities. Initial topics build on our existing work.
- Guiding Questions: Labs begin with key questions that drive research and dialogue.
- Cross-Sectoral Engagement: A diverse group of leaders, influencers, and actors engage deeply throughout the lab, forming task forces, fellowships, or leadership councils.
- Convenings and Dialogues: A series of gatherings and discussions with the group and other stakeholders generate collective learning and insights.
- Research and Analysis: The labs employ both secondary/desk research and primary research methods, such as surveys and focus groups.
- Learning and Engagement: Progress, findings and recommendations from the Idea Labs are shared in various formats and events during the life of the lab.
- Engagement with our Community: By working with community members, the Labs foster dialogue, co-creation, uptake, and implementation in partnership.
Capita Idea Labs are our signature approach—how we generate new dialogue and tools, and cultivate leaders focused on critical topics impacting families and their communities.
